Amazon in Talks to Acquire Israeli AI Startup Decart for $7 Billion to Boost AI Chip Efficiency
Oct 12, 2026 | By Carmela Catilo

Amazon is reportedly in talks to acquire Israeli artificial intelligence (AI) startup Decart in a deal valued at approximately $7 billion. The potential acquisition could strengthen Amazon Web Services (AWS) by improving the performance of its custom AI processors and helping customers run AI workloads more efficiently.
Decart Develops Software to Improve AI Computing Efficiency
Orian Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev, Decart develops software that helps AI models run efficiently across different processor architectures.
Its main platform, DOS, helps developers optimize AI models for specific chips, improving the efficiency of AI training and inference. This technology can also make it easier for companies to move workloads between processors when hardware availability or computing requirements change.
Amazon Could Strengthen Its Trainium AI Chips
The potential acquisition could support Amazon’s strategy of improving its in-house computing infrastructure. AWS develops custom processors, including Trainium for AI training and Inferentia for AI inference.
Decart’s optimization software could help AWS customers get better performance from these processors while potentially reducing the computing costs associated with running AI models.
Amazon is already a strategic customer of Decart and has reportedly provided the startup with early access to its Trainium3 chips. Earlier reporting indicated that Decart’s real-time video model ran four times faster on Trainium hardware during testing. Actual performance improvements can vary depending on the model, workload and hardware configuration.
Decart Raised $300 Million at a $4 Billion Valuation
In May 2026, Decart raised $300 million at a $4 billion valuation. Its investors include Nvidia Ventures, Radical Ventures, Adobe Ventures, Sequoia Capital and Benchmark. The funding brought the company’s total capital raised to more than $400 million, according to SiliconANGLE.
Before the reported Amazon discussions, AI company Anthropic was also reportedly considering an acquisition of Decart at a valuation of around $6 billion. Anthropic subsequently withdrew from the proposed deal following due diligence. Nvidia had also reportedly been involved in earlier acquisition discussions.
