
An edtech company based in Hyderabad called byteXL has received $9 million in a funding round. The funding was led by Elevar Equity and other investors like Kalaari Capital and The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation also took part.
This new round comes after byteXL got $5.9 million in a Series A funding in July 2024. That round was led by Kalaari Capital with help from the Dell Foundation.
ByteXLs Approach to Training Students
Unlike edtech companies that sell courses directly to students byteXL uses a business-to-business model. It works with colleges. Adds its curriculum, projects, learning platforms and trained teachers into regular classes.
The company mainly works with engineering colleges, including those in cities. It wants to help students learn real-world technology skills along with their engineering courses.

How Will byteXL Spend the Money?

The company wants to use the money to grow its network of engineering colleges. It also plans to improve its technology and AI abilities. The company will also add teachers and staff and create new programs that match what industries need.
ByteXL works with 40 colleges and reaches about 200,000 students. In the two years it wants to join 120 colleges and reach 500,000 engineering students in 15 states.
The company also plans to spend on AI-based learning and testing tools. It will also work on student data and tools for learning.
Investors Support byteXLs Focus on Jobs
Elevar Equitys investment shows that more people are interested in education and training companies that help with job opportunities.
Kalaari Capital has supported byteXL from earlier. A partner at Kalaari, Sampath P said the companys model works with the college system instead of building a new one.
The funding happens when the Indian edtech industry is being more careful with investments.. Investors are still interested in companies working on AI, tech skills and job readiness.
Other companies in the training and job readiness industry include Emversity, Seekho.ai, SmartBridge, iNurture, Board Infinity and Imarticus Learning.
