The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and Microsoft have signed an agreement to strengthen their collaboration on AI safety and security.
The partnership is designed to support the safe, secure, and responsible development and use of artificial intelligence technologies.
The agreement was signed by Kiren Kumar, Deputy Chief Executive of IMDA, and Natasha Crampton, Microsoft's Chief Responsible AI Officer.
Under the partnership, IMDA and Microsoft will work together on technical research, information sharing, and the development of policies that support trusted access to advanced AI models.
IMDA and Microsoft will work together on research related to agentic AI, which refers to AI systems that can perform tasks and make decisions more independently.
The two organizations will develop new methods, tools, and benchmarks to evaluate AI models and measure their safety, reliability, and performance.
Their research will also focus on making AI safer across different languages and finding ways to reduce trust and safety risks that AI systems may create for society.
IMDA and Microsoft will exchange research findings, governance frameworks, and best practices related to AI safety and security. They may also share this knowledge with other industry and ecosystem partners when appropriate.
Together with the Singapore AI Safety Institute and other government agencies, they will explore how governments and critical infrastructure operators can responsibly access advanced AI models for safety testing. The organizations will also prepare a white paper examining the needs of government users and infrastructure operators, while considering policy requirements for AI model providers.
