Malaysia-Based Digital Nasional Berhad DNB Collaborate with Cybersecurity Malaysia

Recently, a collaboration agreement was signed between Cybersecurity Malaysia (CSM) and Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) with the goal of strengthening the security of Malaysia’s 5G network by thwarting any cyber threats.

At DNB’s My5G Portal experience facility, the collaboration was formally launched in the presence of Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

A new collaboration has been established to create security rules for 5G. These regulations will be essential to the telecom sector and serve as a model for upcoming 5G security protocols.

DNB and CSM have agreed to build a National 5G Cybersecurity Testing Centre as part of their collaboration. Industry participants will have a platform to evaluate vulnerabilities, comply with standards, and confirm security measures thanks to this centre.

DNB’s chief operating officer Nasution Mohamed emphasised the importance of safeguarding Malaysia’s 5G network by establishing a secure and reliable cybersecurity ecosystem. With the rapid advancement of digitalisation in various sectors, including industrial, commercial, and public, DNB’s collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia is playing a crucial role. This collaboration involves pooling resources and sharing expertise, contributing significantly to the overall effort. We are excited about partnering with CSM and other organisations to further enhance our national 5G cybersecurity ecosystem. This collaboration will contribute to the ongoing development of a strong and resilient network.”

The two organisations will also share threat intelligence data as part of the agreement, which will strengthen the country’s defences against cyberattacks.

At the event, Gobind expressed his admiration for the efforts to enhance the cybersecurity of Malaysia’s 5G network. He emphasised the importance of the 5G network as a critical component of Malaysia’s national information infrastructure, with significant implications for defence, economy, government operations, and daily life. In our rapidly evolving world, the digital landscape has become deeply intertwined with our everyday existence, fueling advancements, economic expansion, and societal development. However, these advancements bring about considerable challenges, especially in the field of cybersecurity. It is crucial for everyone to work together and combine their resources, intelligence, and expertise to address cybersecurity. Through the establishment of strong alliances and partnerships, we can improve our overall capacity to identify, mitigate, and address cybersecurity risks.”

The CEO of CyberSecurity Malaysia, Datuk Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, emphasised the significance of this endeavour and the need to build specialised facilities for assessing and improving cybersecurity protocols for the country’s 5G networks.

“As a result, I am confident that this collaboration will result in the establishment of robust security guidelines, the establishment of a dedicated testing centre, and the sharing of critical threat information among experts. This will ultimately safeguard the digital future of 5G networks for users in Malaysia.”
