A startup called Scooter that is based in Pune has secured 1.5 crore rupees which's equivalent to 0.16 million US dollars in a pre-seed funding round. This funding was led by AJVC which's an early-stage fund created by Aviral Bhatnagar. Scooter plans to use this money to improve its product and make it easier for startups and job seekers to hire sales people.

This investment is the one made by AJVC in a startup located in Pune. Scooter has not shared its valuation or the total amount of money it has collected far.

What is Scooter?

Scooter was started in the year 2024. It is a platform that helps startups find sales professionals. The focus is on assessments and not just on resumes.

The platform finds verified sales candidates. It tests them with exercises that're specific to the sales role. Then it gives hiring managers a list of three to five candidates. Employers can also watch video clips of the candidates assessments before looking at their resumes.

Scooter says this approach helps companies check a candidates sales skills in the hiring process.

How Will Scooter Use the Funding?

The new money will be used to expand the Scooter product and make the process of hiring sales people easier for both job seekers and hiring managers.

The startup is trying to make the way sales candidates are tested and matched with companies better. This is very important for startups that need to build sales teams

Business Growth

Scooter says it currently works with than 50 companies and has added 14 new clients in recent months. The platform has also gathered a group of than 10,000 sales candidates.

The company says one of its clients was able to hire a sales person through its platform in six days. These numbers are based on what Scooter has shared. They have not been checked by anyone

Founders and Team

Scooter was started by Kartik Mandrekar and Saumya Seth.

Mandrekar has led sales teams at Gartner, Shoptimize and Graas. He has experience in sales and hiring. Seth is a scientist. Has a masters degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

The founders are creating Scooter around the idea that hiring for sales roles should focus more on selling skills and how well someone performs in practice rather than, on their qualifications and resumes.
