Ajay Pratap Singh has stepped down from his position as CEO of Absolute Sports, the sports media company owned by Nazara Technologies that operates Sportskeeda. He served as CEO for more than three and a half years.
Singh was appointed CEO in November 2022 after Sportskeeda founder Porush Jain left the role. Before becoming CEO, he worked as the company's Chief Operating Officer (COO) for two years. He first joined Sportskeeda in November 2019 as Head of Marketing.
Prior to joining Sportskeeda, Singh held leadership roles at Dainik Bhaskar Group and Tally Solutions, where he gained valuable experience in marketing and business operations.
"Looking back, these last 6.5 years have been hands down the most exciting, chaotic, and incredibly rewarding years of my career," Singh said in a LinkedIn post.
Singh said he plans to start his own business but has not shared any further details yet.
During Ajay Pratap Singh’s time as CEO, Absolute Sports expanded significantly. What started as a company with a single brand, Sportskeeda, grew into a network of eight brands covering sports, gaming, and entertainment. This growth was driven by several acquisitions, including Pro Football Network, College Football Network, Deltia’s Gaming, Soap Central, TJRWrestling, ITRWrestling, and Primetimer.
The leadership change comes at a time when Nazara Technologies is reportedly exploring the sale of its esports and advertising technology businesses. The company is looking to focus more on its gaming division, which generates higher profits.
Nazara first acquired a majority stake in Absolute Sports in 2019 for ₹44 crore. Over the years, it gradually increased its ownership and completed the full acquisition of the company in March 2025.
Despite its expansion, Absolute Sports faced financial challenges during the last fiscal year. The company's revenue declined by 38.6%, falling from ₹239.6 crore in FY25 to ₹147 crore in FY26. According to the company, the decrease was mainly caused by lower website traffic following Google's core search update released in March 2025.
