Akamai Technologies has completed its $205 million acquisition of LayerX, a company that provides secure browser security solutions for businesses. The deal, which was first announced in May, is now officially complete.
Akamai has taken another step to grow its Zero Trust security platform by completing this acquisition.
Its platform already offers features like network segmentation, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and DNS security, which are used by thousands of businesses around the world.
LayerX helps businesses see and control what users do inside their web browsers. It can monitor web activity, file uploads, and the use of SaaS applications across both company-managed and personal devices.

The platform works with existing web browsers, so businesses do not need to switch to a new browser. This helps extend security to everyday web activities without disrupting users.
LayerX was founded in 2022 by Or Eshed and David Weisbrot. The company raised $45 million from investors, including Glilot Capital, Dell Technologies Capital, and Jump Capital.
After the acquisition, the LayerX team, including its founders, joined Akamai’s cybersecurity division. Akamai expects LayerX to generate around $10 million in annual recurring revenue by the end of the year.
