Naver Cloud Enters Taiwan’s Public Sector With LINE WORKS

The deal is Naver Cloud’s first major contract with a Taiwanese government agency. The company plans to use the partnership as a starting point for expanding LINE WORKS in Taiwan’s public sector.

Hsinchu is an important technology and semiconductor hub. The city is home to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) and several major semiconductor and IT industrial parks.

Hsinchu City plans to use LINE WORKS as part of its efforts to build a smart city and improve government services through digital technology and AI.

Naver Cloud and Hsinchu City will also look at ways to use AI and other digital technologies in government services. The two sides may work on pilot projects aimed at making administrative work more efficient and improving services for residents.

LINE WORKS entered the Taiwan market about 10 months ago and has already attracted more than 150 companies and institutions. The platform now has more than 10,000 users in the country.

Until now, most of its Taiwan customers have come from the private sector. The Hsinchu City deal gives Naver Cloud an opportunity to enter the public sector as well.

Naver Cloud has held the top position in Japan’s business collaboration software market for eight consecutive years since 2017. The company plans to use its experience in Japan’s public and local government markets to approach more government agencies in Taiwan.

The Hsinchu City partnership could also help LINE WORKS build its reputation among other local governments and public institutions across Taiwan.

"We are rapidly expanding our footprint in overseas public markets including Japan and Taiwan, in addition to being selected as the official collaboration platform for the South Korean government," a NAVER Cloud official said. "The plan is to further solidify our leadership in the software-as-a-service market for public services at home and abroad, backed by proven user convenience and AI technology tailored to administrative work."
