NSV Secures $53 Million for First Biotech Fund

NSV is a venture builder and investor with offices in Singapore, Taiwan, and the United States. The fund will use the firm's global network to identify promising biotechnology opportunities and support companies from their early stages.

The firm is led by founding managing partner Daphne Teo and founding chief scientist Timothy Lu. The team has 15 years of experience in investing in and building companies, helping businesses raise billions of dollars and achieve 10 public listings and acquisition exits.

Fund to Support Therapeutics and AI Innovation

NSV plans to invest in therapeutics, including drug development opportunities from Asia, as pharmaceutical companies look to strengthen their drug development pipelines. It will also target technologies combining biology, AI, data, and scientific tools.

Founding managing partner Daphne Teo said investors continue to see strong opportunities in biotechnology despite more selective investment activity and a slowdown in venture fundraising. Founding chief scientist Timothy Lu added that scientific developments in new therapies are progressing quickly, with research opportunities emerging across different regions.

Investors and Previous Investment Track Record

The fund's limited partners include sovereign and government-backed investment funds, listed companies, family offices, and entrepreneurs. Notable investors include Taiwan's National Development Fund, EDBI, an arm of SG Growth Capital, Catcher Technology, and Crescendas Group.

NSV's team has also been involved in companies such as Enleofen Bio and Tango Therapeutics. Enleofen Bio's platform and products were acquired by pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim in a deal that could exceed $1 billion per product. Tango Therapeutics, a precision oncology company, is listed on Nasdaq and valued at more than $3 billion.
