Sumsub Launches Agentic AI Council in APAC to Advance Trusted AI Adoption

Singapore-based AI powered trust infrastructure company Sumsub has launched the Sumsub Agentic AI Council, an APAC-focused cross-sector initiative aimed at developing practical frameworks and best practices for the responsible adoption of agentic AI.

The Council will bring together experts from policy, academia, technology, industry and civil society to examine how AI agents can be deployed responsibly, with a focus on identity, delegated authority, security, transparency, accountability and human oversight.

The Council has opened expressions of interest for leaders and experts who want to participate as founding Council advisors.

As AI agents increasingly move beyond experimental applications to systems capable of planning, making decisions and taking actions on behalf of people and organizations the Council aims to address the practical challenges associated with their deployment.

Sumsub said the initiative will focus on creating guidance that can help organizations balance the opportunities presented by autonomous AI with the need for trust, control and accountability.

Council's Three Key Pillars

The Sumsub Agentic AI Council will operate through three pillars: Adopt, Build and Govern.

Adopt

The Council will explore responsible applications of agentic AI across areas such as compliance, fraud prevention, customer experience and operational efficiency.

Build

This pillar will focus on the technical and operational infrastructure needed for trustworthy AI agents. Areas of focus will include agent identity, verifiable credentials, secure architectures, traceability and interoperability.

Govern

The governance pillar will examine policies, standards and accountability mechanisms for AI systems with increasing levels of autonomy. The Council will also explore practical approaches to clarify responsibilities around agentic AI.

Focus on Agentic Commerce

The Council's first working group is expected to focus on agentic commerce.

The group will examine identity, accountability and oversight considerations that could emerge when AI agents act on behalf of consumers and businesses.

Founding advisors will also contribute to workstreams covering the Council's three pillars and help develop a practical framework addressing AI agent identity, delegated authority, interoperability and auditability.

Sumsub's Role in Trusted AI

Sumsub brings experience in identity verification, fraud prevention and compliance to the initiative.

The company has developed AI-related capabilities including Summy AI Copilot, its platform-native AI assistant, as well as its Know Your Agent (KYA) framework and MCP integration capabilities.

According to Sumsub, these initiatives form part of its broader focus on trust and accountability as AI systems become increasingly integrated into digital interactions.

Jason Chan, APAC Government Relations Lead at Sumsub, said the conditions required for responsible agentic AI adoption are still developing, particularly in areas involving financial, operational and regulatory consequences.

Mick Amelishko, AI Advocate at Sumsub, said the Council will provide a platform for experts from different disciplines to exchange perspectives and contribute to approaches for responsible agentic AI development.

Expert Participation and Next Steps

Sumsub is currently inviting experts to express interest in becoming founding Council advisors.

The advisors will contribute to the Council's workstreams and help shape research, industry guidance and stakeholder discussions around agentic AI.

The founding Council advisors are expected to be announced ahead of the inaugural Council meeting in Q1 2027.
