SUMMARY
- Xpeng’s robotics business, Xiaopeng Pengxing, has raised more than US$900 million in Series A funding.
- The round was led by IDG Capital, with Gaorong Ventures, Tencent and Alibaba also participating.
- Its Iron humanoid robot is expected to enter mass production in late 2026, with customer deliveries planned for 2027.
The funding round was led by Hong Kong-based IDG Capital. Other investors included Gaorong Ventures, while Tencent and Alibaba joined as strategic investors.
The new funding values Xpeng’s robotics business at more than US$6.3 billion after the investment. Xpeng will continue to hold a controlling stake in the robotics unit.
“I believe Xpeng will not only build one of China’s most valuable humanoid robotics companies, but also become a global leader in physical AI, spearheading the large-scale adoption and commercialisation of advanced general-purpose humanoid robots and autonomous driving technologies in China and overseas,” He Xiaopeng, co-founder and CEO of the company, said in the statement.

“The capital will enable Xpeng to improve its development and production capabilities in constructing advanced robots,” said Ding Haifeng, a consultant at Shanghai-based financial advisory firm Integrity. “Xpeng has the potential to be a real Tesla challenger in EVs and robotics, rather than an imitator.”
Xpeng said it will use the new funding to improve its robotics hardware and software. The company also plans to invest in physical AI training and develop better technology for its robots.
The funding will also support smart manufacturing infrastructure. Xpeng plans to use the money to increase its production capabilities and prepare its robotics business for future growth.
Xpeng is also planning to expand its robotics business globally. The company had already introduced its Iron humanoid robot in November 2025, with mass production planned for late 2026.
The Iron robot is expected to launch first in Xpeng retail stores and company campuses. The company plans to expand to international markets and begin customer deliveries in 2027.
