India's Emergent Joins Unicorn Club with $130 Mn Series C Funding

Emergent, an AI software creation platform It raised US$130 million in its Series C funding round and is now valued at $1.5 billion. This makes it India's sixth unicorn startup of 2026. The funding round was led by Creaegis, with MNI Ventures–Claypond Capital and Sentinel Global joining as co-lead investors.

Existing investors including Khosla Ventures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed and Y Combinator also participated in the round, taking Emergent’s total funding to $230 million. The company enables entrepreneurs and small businesses to build production-ready web and mobile applications using autonomous AI agents.

Emergent claims that over 12 million applications have been created on its platform and that nearly 70% of its users have no prior coding experience. The startup currently serves customers across 190 countries and has achieved an annualised revenue run rate of approximately $120 million, growing around 20% quarter-on-quarter.

“We built Emergent for the non-technical entrepreneur and the small business owner, with 70% of our users having no prior coding experience,” said Mukund Jha, Co-founder of Emergent. “We give these users a new path beyond generic SaaS, slow and expensive dev shops, lightweight prototype tools, or waiting for technical talent to which they may never have access.”

“Small businesses today have a historic moment to build, automate, and operate using autonomous platforms and address their disadvantages in the previous era,” said Prakash Parthasarathy of Creaegis. “Emergent is enabling every entrepreneur and business to embrace this change with production-grade software and automation.”

The new funding shows that investors have strong confidence in India's growing AI startup industry. In the first half of 2026, Indian AI startups raised $676 million through 57 funding deals. Emergent earns about one-third of its revenue from North America and another one-third from Europe, while India contributes around 6–7% of its total revenue.

The company plans to use the fresh capital for hiring, open-source AI research, and expanding its engineering and go-to-market teams across India, San Francisco, and Europe.
