Egypt’s top producer of agricultural polyethylene film, Hyma Plastic, has formed a strategic alliance with agriclimate tech startup iyris, formerly known as Red Sea. According to the deal, Hyma Plastic will be the only company in Egypt authorized to manufacture iyris’ SecondSky Greenhouse product.
The alliance intends to increase local production capabilities, broaden the distribution network, and make SecondSky’s heat-blocking technology more accessible to Egyptian farmers. Farmers should be able to increase agricultural productivity and profitability by reducing heat stress on crops grown in greenhouses with the aid of this innovation.
The deal will expedite the rollout of SecondSky AGRI greenhouse films throughout Egypt, according to Simon Stockil, Growth Director of EMEA at iyris. This is in line with the company’s objective of providing farmers in hot regions with scalable, sustainable solutions.

The addition of this well-known heat-blocking technology to Hyma Plastic’s product line, according to Deputy CEO Aly Samy Fahmy, meets a vital demand for Egyptian farmers who are severely stressed by heat in their greenhouses. He went on to say that producers looking to increase output and quality have access to a state-of-the-art, yet straightforward, solution with SecondSky’s simplicity of deployment.
