Singtel’s NCS Launches AI Mission Centre

NCS, the technology services arm of Singapore-based Singtel, has launched an AI Mission Centre to help businesses and public-sector organisations move artificial intelligence (AI) projects from pilot stages to real-world operations.

The centre was launched on October 29, 2026, with Singapore’s Minister for Digital Development and Information, Josephine Teo, officiating at the event. NCS also signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with Changi Airport Group, the Institute of Mental Health, and Life3 Biotech to explore AI applications across different sectors.

AI Projects Across Aviation, Healthcare and Biomanufacturing

The new partnerships will focus on applying AI to practical industry challenges. At Changi Airport Group, the work will focus on runway surveillance. The collaboration with the Institute of Mental Health will explore patient identification and care-support tools, while Life3 Biotech will work on AI-driven biomanufacturing optimisation.

These projects aim to demonstrate how AI can support operational processes and improve services beyond experimental programmes.

NCS to Expand AI Specialist Workforce to Over 300

Alongside the launch, NCS announced plans to increase its Intelligentisation Forward-Deployed Engineers (iFDEs) from 100 to more than 300 within two years.

The company will expand the team through new hiring and internal reskilling. These specialists work directly with client teams to develop, implement and deploy AI solutions that address business and operational needs.

NCS CEO Sam Liew said the company wants Singapore to become a place where AI can be deployed at scale to strengthen industries and improve public services. He added that expanding the specialist team would help turn technological developments into practical outcomes.

Employee Training and AI Development

NCS is also investing in AI skills development across its workforce. The company is providing AI fluency training to employees, covering areas such as prompt engineering, responsible AI use and working with AI agents.

It is also upskilling more than 2,000 AI practitioners to develop and deploy production-ready agentic AI solutions. In addition, NCS is redesigning software engineering roles to bring business analysis, software development and testing capabilities closer together.

Regional AI Expansion

The AI Mission Centre builds on NCS’s wider efforts to expand its enterprise AI capabilities across the Asia-Pacific region. The company has also partnered with C3 AI to deliver enterprise AI applications to organisations across the region.

The new centre and workforce expansion reflect NCS’s focus on helping organisations integrate AI into everyday operations. Its partnerships across aviation, healthcare and biomanufacturing will provide opportunities to apply AI to specific industry needs while supporting Singapore’s broader development of responsible AI adoption.
