
Standard Chartered has appointed Shebani Baweja as its new Group Chief Data Officer (CDO) with immediate effect.
She will report to Alvaro Garrido, who leads Technology & Operations and Information Security & Data at the bank. Shebani will be based in Singapore.
As Group CDO, she will lead the bank’s Group Data Office and help shape its overall data strategy. Her job will include improving how data is managed, governed, and used across the organization.
She will also focus on building strong data systems, creating consistent data practices, and increasing the use of data and analytics to support growth, innovation, and better business decisions.

Shebani has more than 20 years of experience in digital transformation and data management. Since joining Standard Chartered in 2008, she has held several senior roles. Most recently, she worked as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Wealth and Retail Banking and International Markets, where she led cyber risk and security strategies to protect customers and support digital growth.
